Matthew 22:39 (NIV)
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”

As many of you know, I am in Philadelphia, and right now I am watching what is to be 18 inches of snow fall. A great reminder of why I live in Florida.

Sunday we spoke of LOVING YOURSELF…and until you love yourself, you will NOT be able to love others. I want to thank you for the e-mails and comments on the freedom that Sunday’s message brought many of you. There are still some questions that might be flying around this topic like how do I know the difference between being selfish and loving myself in a Godly manner? Or can I love myself in the face of spiritual authority? When does what I perceived as obedience really become co-dependency? All of these are great questions. They are things that God cares about because they derail our ability to love God fully or love our neighbors.

Sunday we will be wrestling with these questions. Let me give you one more thought to ponder: when we do not love ourselves, by accepting what GOD has done and who he has made us, we make God a co-dependent God. What am I talking about? Pray for warm weather, for the storm to stop, the snow to melt and I will see you Sunday. I cannot wait. THIS STUFF IS FREEDOM to those of us who feel trapped, controlled, and/or less than. Don’t miss this SUNDAY at Freshstart!

Good Morning Friends,
I just placed $100,000,000.00 in your bank account! No, really, it’s in there! Could you imagine? I would have to spend hours, maybe days, trying to get you to believe that it is really in there. Let’s say I got you to believe it; you told me and those around you, “I believe there is a million dollars in my account.” However, though you said you believe it, you continued living as if you make $25,000.00 a year. What good would it do to believe this in your head, and it have no change in your life?
You see, I don’t want you to reach some mental assent about the million dollars; I want you to live as if you have a million dollars in your account. The only way you would live that way is if you believed it!
The same is true with our faith. Believing in a list of spiritual facts is meaningless, unless our life proves that we believe the facts. We don’t really believe. You see faith without works is DEAD James tells us! Beware of people who want you to believe something that their life does not reflect.
As we spoke about yesterday, Jesus has called us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The reason why most struggle with self love is we forget who we are. Remember, God FINISHED the work on Calvary…..you have everything you need to do all that he has asked us….let’s walk in it my friends!
Running the Race with you,
Scott
