It’s day five as we take a final look at a very interesting verse of scripture-
2 Timothy 3:16-17: – (NIV)
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The New Living Translation translates the verses this way-
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
A lot of Christians tell me they are trying…..they are trying to live like God wants us to. It will never happen! No matter how hard we try, we will never be able to live the way that God wants us too. THAT IS NOT BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY….Jesus died for that. But living like Jesus is not about trying, it is training. This is one of the reasons God gave us His Word….it is to TRAIN us in how to live.
This weekend we are going to be doing some serious training! I pray you will join us Sunday for an AWESOME service as we kick off a new series! And by the way, don’t forget to change your clocks back one hour!
One last thought: many people claim to be followers of God and say they believe the Bible; then why do we struggle to use it in our lives in the way we learned about this week? Just wondering.
See you Sunday!

Day four as we continue to take a look at a very interesting verse of scripture-
2 Timothy 3:16-17: – (NIV)

You know those people who like to tell you what’s wrong…..got to love them, especially when watching their life you cannot see what’s right. Yesterday we took a look at how God’s word might show us what is out of place in our lives…..but the GREAT NEWS is God never leaves you hanging. God’s word shows you how to live in the wholeness that God has secured for you! However, many times we cannot see the direction of God because of what we spoke of yesterday. When someone has taught you that God is an angry God, well, it’s just hard to learn something from an angry person isn’t it?
When was the last time you were lost while driving somewhere? In my younger days I would just drive around until I found it, asking for help was a LAST resort. Unfortunately that is how many live life. We just try a bunch of stuff until we figure it out. BUT, if we would see God as a loving God who loves to help you find the way, wouldn’t it be easier to ask Him? I am just wondering?
Have a great day! We will finish all of this tomorrow!

Day three as we continue to take a look at a very interesting verse of scripture-
2 Timothy 3:16-17: – (NIV)
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
Many people that I run into have an image of an angry God. They see God as a person who yells a lot and is constantly telling us we are wrong. The problem with images is that we usually have a connection point in life to an image. So if we see God as an angry person, we usually have a person in our life (or maybe even ourselves) who is very angry.
Angry people yell for two reasons….first they have NEVER learned the skills of communication and they feel that if they can yell louder thAn the other person, they will get their way. God does not yell, in fact, the scripture teaches that he speaks with a small still voice! The other reason angry people yell is that they really do not feel real good about themselves, so if they can put others down, well, they can feel better. It is a really sick way toward feeling good. God doesn’t need that either.
HOWEVER, the scripture we are reading does say that the scripture is like a mirror; it helps us see what we might need to change, what we have out of place, or even wrong. Before you leave the house in the morning, you most likely look in the mirror to see if everything is in place or if the clothes you have on match. If the clothes do not match, do you get mad at the mirror?
It is interesting to me that at times when people read something in the scripture, and it shows them that there is something out of place or wrong in their life, they get mad at the “mirror”, the scripture, or the maker of the “mirror”, God (which is interesting because many people when they get angry say they don’t believe that God had much to do with the Bible, but it is men who think about God who wrote it). So I am just wondering when I look in the mirror this morning and see that several hairs are out of place, should I break the mirror? I was just wondering?
