FreshBread Message Friday, February 29, 2008
Dear Friends,
Enjoy today….you will not see it again for 4 years! Relax! Rest a little. Thanks for your responses to FreshBread yesterday! One of the responders to may questions said this:
The Bible teaches us that God is Just and that his Justice will come. My question is this….what will this World look like if God’s Justice would come?
I believe God’s justice has already come. If we follow God’s design for us and make the choices God would have us make, then the justice is living in God’s kingdom here on earth and for eternity. God has given us free will to make decisions, and the justice comes from that decision whether it is right or wrong.
What does God’s Justice look like? God’s justice is Jesus dying on the cross for us. No matter how many mistakes you make, you are forgiven and your slate is wiped clean. God’s will always give us the opportunity to do the right thing, it is whether we choose to do the right thing and follow the work of God or follow the world and receive the world’s justice.
There are some great thoughts to ponder in this response! It also raises a very important question. If God’s justice has come, and we are God’s people, then what requirement does God’s Justice lay on us? How are we to live out the Justice of God? This is a CRITICAL QUESTION for those of us who seek Kingdom Living in our lives…for Jesus said to the Pharisees one day……
WOW, to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and other kind of green herbs, but you neglect JUSTICE and the love of God. You should have practiced the later without leaving the former undone.
What might it look like for us to live out the JUSTICE of God? We are going to tackle that this weekend. Don’t miss Sunday, this could give you something to chew on for years, or change the course of you life in a moment! I look forward to seeing you all there!
Running the Race, and resting at the turns,
Scott

FreshBread Message Thursday, February 28, 2008
Dear Friends,
Thanks for the E-mails. Yes, I am fine….just RESTING. I pray that God is allowing you to do the same. Let me give you something to think about today. I would love to hear your thoughts. Send them to me at Scott@freshstartchurch.com. Take a look at Amos 5:24….The prophet says:
But Let JUSTICE roll on like a river, righteousness like a never falling stream!
What is Justice? The Bible teaches us that God is Just and that his Justice will come. My question is this….what will this World look like if God’s Justice would come? Or has it already come? What does God’s Justice look like?
Have a great day…wrestle with these thoughts and let me know what you are thinking. As always, I am prying for you TODAY! Look for God today…He is working in your life!
Scott

Can I ask you a personal question? How do you read FreshBread, or another devotional or the Bible? Most people that I know read a devotional quickly, cause we are in a hurry to see if we get anything out of it. Many of us that read the Bible read a certain section or chapter a day and check it off our to do list. Some of us try to read as many as we possibly can in a day. How do you read these things?
Let me keep asking…..yesterday I printed Psalm 91…..did you have time to read it? Or was it a little long, take to much time, and since I did not give many answers about it…..I just want us to think about that for a moment.
Who write the rules on what we read, or what we are supposed to get out of it? I know this for sure, WE WILL GET NOTHING OF WHAT GOD WANTS US TO GET OUT OF THIS READING UNLESS WE SLOW DOWN! I do not necessarily mean take more time, but read less. That may sound weird, but I believe we need to slow down and let God speak to us as we read. Let God’s small still voice give us something to think about and ponder. If that happens in the first sentence, it’s time to close the book. We need to MEET God, not just read about him! God desires to be with you, walk with you throughout the day!
I encourage you to read Psalm 91 today….SLOWLY….and only till God gives you something to wrestle with today…..then just try to forget it….you won’t be able to, GOD WILL TEACH YOU ALL DAY! Let’s talk tomorrow!
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will tramplethe great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Have a GREAT DAY…..I am Praying for you!
