Today’s Reading is Numbers 11-13

If it’s not one thing it’s another. These people are complainers! But what is astounding is that these folks have seen the work of God over and over again and still forget and complain! First it was bread, now it is meat! God heard their cries and sent quail, but instead of each family taking what they need they hoarded it…Now that made God angry!
Ever complain about God’s “lack” of provision? Or maybe you are a “hoarder” who holds onto the blessing of God trusting in it instead of God himself? Either way I am not sure that God gets real excited about that. We defiantly can wrestle with that truth.
Something else to wrestle with this morning….what a relationship Moses had with God! I long for that kind of intimacy with God! God’s statement on humility seems to be the key. Moses knew who he was and who he wasn’t. He also knew who God was and followed Him!
When God told Moses to send spies into the land he did. He not only sent them but also gave the specific details on what to do. But as we see their perspective was a little different than Moses.
Let God speak to you today. Take some time and journal about the thoughts that run through your mind as you read these scriptures!

Questions to discuss with your spouse:
1 If we could step back and honestly look at ourselves for a minute, what are the things we complain about the most? Why?
2.What does the evidence show? Do we store God’s blessings and trust in those?
Questions to discuss with your kids:
1. When something gets tough or goes wrong…do you attack the situation or complain about it? Why?
2. How close would you say God is right now to you…. In your room, house, neighborhood, or watching over you from a distance?

Today’s Reading is Leviticus 26-27

Congratulations……You made it through the book of Leviticus! This book can get a little tedious, but it is very important to understand its context so we know that God is Holy and our sin separates us from Him.
In our Reading today, God reviews a number of things. It is almost as if He says, “In conclusion Moses, I want you to emphasis these things!”
1. Have NO other Gods. This was not a control statement by God, but He knew that the other gods in the land would bring pain and hurt into the lives of the people. God wanted the best for them, and the only way to have His best is through Him.
2. God wanted them to function like they were made. Our bodies need rest so God reminded Moses of the Sabbath. This was NOT an optional thing….but a command!
3. God commanded obedience He reminded Moses that in disobedience there would be punishment and nowhere to hide from it. In obedience the blessing of God would be unbelievable! Is this a control deal? NO….God wants to give us His best and that only comes through obedience.
4. He also reminded Moses that there are some things that just belong to God. The first-born male and 10% of their income is both God’s. IF you want to give more that is fine but these things already belonged to God! Again this is not a control deal, but God wants us to live dependent on Him….it is best for us!
Many times when I am in a conversation I wrap it up by recapping what is most important to me or the heart of the points I wanted to share. Looking over these last statements in Leviticus…what does this tell us about the heart of God? It tells us what is most important to Him!

Today’s Reading is Leviticus 24-25
Without a doubt greed is one of the biggest problems in our world today. God had an answer for that problem, it was called the Year of Jubilee. Every 50 years all of the “decks” were reshuffled and people returned to their original land. The interesting thing about this command is that we read nowhere in the Bible where it was actually practiced. A great plan of God ignored by His people.
God also takes some time to restate some of the laws with Moses. Sabbath rest is very important, not only for people but God commanded it for the use of land also. This might seem weird but research has soon that land would be drained of its nutrients and this one year off helped produce good crops again.
It also interesting that God commanded that the lights be burning in the tabernacle without interruption. This points to Jesus words that we should let our light shine before men! Ask God to give you some opportunities for that this weekend.
